Welcome to Sarah Bamber Therapies
My Story
Looking after you.
My name is Sarah, I'm a mum, wife horse rider/owner & massage therapist. I live on a small holding in the South Pennines with my family. I'm a lifelong animal lover, we currently have our own cats, dogs, hens and horses. I became interested in health & wellbeing after suffering from anxiety, post natal depression & low self confidence when my oldest children were very young. Many years ago I began my self care journey by practising yoga & relaxation which made a huge difference in my life. In 2017 I qualified as an equine massage therapist (ESMT), this naturally led to training as a human therapist too. My treatments include swedish massage, hot stones therapy, lymph drainage, hopi ear candling & pregnancy massage. I also run guided mindful walks, regular relaxation sessions at various locations and have a weekly free relaxation session on FB.
Therapeutic massage is often used to treat muscle pain, injury, and stiffness. Massage therapy has also been used for the treatment of mental and emotional problems, including anxiety, depression and stress. It may also be able to help reduce tension and promote feelings of calm and deep relaxation.
Looking after your horses.
Equine Sports Massage is an essential part of the maintenance and treatment of all horses and ponies, in work or at rest, competition horses and happy hackers. Therapeutic Massage can be used to treat a wide range of muscular problems. Over 60% of a horses body mass is muscle.
There are many benefits of equine massage:
- Enhances muscle tone & increases range of movement & flexibility
- Improves performance
- Promotes healing by increasing blood & nutrient flow to the muscles and carries away excess toxins
- Promotes lymphatic drainage
- Reduces inflammation & swelling in joints - relieving joint pain
- Relieves muscle tension
- A whole body massage balances the whole body
- Stimulates circulation & releases 'endorphins' - natures own pain relief
- Reduces risk of injury
- Improves recovery time after illness & or injury

Muscular care is as important to your horse as good farriery, dental care and worming regime.
If you are looking to help your horse become the best it can be, improve your horses performance in competition, or want your horse to be working comfortably through good muscular maintenance - call me.
Treatments can include neuromuscular massage, myofascial release, trigger point release, gait and conformation analysis, saddle fit check.
Week day, evening and weekend appointments are available.
